I write Regency Romance books for fun. I write Regency Romance novels because I love nothing better than to escape with a dashing rake for an afternoon.
Like most fans of the genre, I fell in love with the novels of Georgette Heyer at an early age. Regency Buck, Faro’s Daughter and Sylvester are three of my favourites. Strong, dashing heroes and heroines who give as good as they get; reading one of her novels was, and still is, one of life’s pleasures!
Sadly, there are no new Heyer books to read and I’ve done the back catalogue. So I decided to try and write my own.
Obviously, fashions have changed since Heyer’s day, and most readers want to see inside the bedroom. That’s great, but I sometimes think the desire to depict desire overrides everything else and something is lost in the process. It becomes lust, not love, and therein lies my problem. I want to be there every step of the way as the hero woos the heroine. I want to fall in love with Regency Romances again.
